Severe arm infection from a cut, amputation risk without surgery

Lightson, 10, from Cape Coast, cut his left arm on a piece of metal while playing with friends. Limited family income and difficult hygiene conditions let the wound develop into a serious infection. Surgeons say prompt surgery is the last chance to prevent amputation, which would badly affect his future. This is his own real appeal, organised by Michel Richter, a volunteer with unity for change Ghana e.V. — goal €2,000 (~GHS 34,000), which the campaign has already reached; the surgery itself is still pending.
